10 Movies available on Hoopla Part 6:

Season of the Witch

The Crow- 1994- Classic comic book adaptation about avenging angel Eric Draven. A comic adaptation with muscle. With Brandon Lee. The first of the not-so-great sequels is also available.

Final Girl- 2015- Abigail Breslin is hunted by sadistic fellow students in this horror thriller.

Lost Soul: The Doomed Journey Of Richard Stanley's Island Of Dr. Moreau- 2015- Fascinating documentary about Richard Stanley’s abandoned version of Island of Dr. Moreau.

Santa Jaws- 2018- It is beginning to look a lot like Christmas…or not. Claus with Jaws. Title says all there needs to be said. Seriously, probably the finest film about a Christmas shark causing yule tide terror ever produced…so far.

The Visitor- 1979- Insane Italian-made film inspired by the true events of The Exorcist making a ton of money at the box office, but with aliens. Featuring John Huston, Shelly Winters and Franco Nero.

Rubber- 2011- A tire named Robert causes bloody mayhem for a small desert community. I am not making this up.

Deep Red- 1975- A man witnesses a murder and is terrorized by the killer who attempts to tie up the many loose ends of the homicide. A tense, classic “giallo” mystery from Dario Argento.

Mystery Science Theater 3000: Avalanche- 2017- There are many episodes of MST3000 available featuring all of the different hosts. This is from the newest incarnation with host Jonah Ray. The movie is a Roger Corman produced disaster movie starring Rock Hudson. Huntsville, Al native Felicia Day plays mad scientist Kinga Forrester, daughter to the original show’s mad scientist Dr. Clayton Forrester (played by Trace Beaulieu). (Felica Day’s IMDb link:  https://www.imdb.com/name/nm1260407/)

Free Fire- 2016- A non-stop bullet party set in 1978 with Brie Larson and Armie Hammer.

Spider Baby- 1968- Lon Chaney Jr. is a caregiver for a family that suffers from a degenerative condition that makes the adults revert to their childhood, but with demented results. Chaney Jr.’s last great role, he even sings the title song. With Sig Haig and Beverly Washburn. From writer/director Jack Hill. Back fifty years ago it played Huntsville drive-in theaters under the gross title The Liver Eaters.

Bonus CD:

Cold In July (Original Soundtrack Album)- 2014- The film adaptation of Joe Lansdale’s gritty crime novel is not available on Hoopla currently, but the rocking soundtrack is. It features Jeff Grace, Dynatron and Kasey Lansdale, Joe’s daughter who is also a writer and an accomplished singer/musician. Perfect music if you want to listen to it while you read the ebook:  https://www.hoopladigital.com/title/12755764
