Ebooks and audiobooks that you can check out are now a fundamental part of the majority of US public library services. HMCPL began its digital book journey in 2009 with the OverDrive platform. OverDrive owns what is now the Libby app, and the group of libraries that HMCPL partners with to provide ebooks and audiobooks (Guntersville Public Library, Florence-Lauderdale County Public Library, and the Oneonta Public Library) is called the Valley Digital Library consortium. The Huntsville-Madison County Public Library Foundation has generously funded this collection since its start.

Greetings again boils and ghouls! Looking for something new to read digitally? I've scrounged the shadowy depths of the horror section of Hoopla to dredge up 13 of my favorite lesser known adult horror comics that we don't have available in our physical collection for your reading pleasure. So, settle in if you dare and take a look at some hair-raising Hoopla horror!

Spooky Season 2022 is upon us. The days grow short, the shadows grow long and the leaves fall off the trees. It always seems damp, but the air is crisp and clean in a way like no other season of the year. There’s no better time than the month of October to power watch as many spooky flicks as your eyeballs can handle.

As summer rolls around once more it's time again to look at that Oscars of comics, the Will Eisner Awards which are presented each year at San Diego Comic Con. Creator Spotlight: Mike Mignola

Mike Mignola is an American artist and writer most famously known for his work at Dark Horse Publishing where we created the character Hellboy and it's various spin-offs and sister series. Before that he worked for both Marvel and DC as both a penciler and inker on a number of series as well as a cover artist for several Batman issues. Famed comic book creator Alan Moore has described Mignola's style as that of "German expressionism meets Jack Kirby." Below are some of the comics and novels featuring his work both in our catalog and on Hoopla.
