March is Reach Out to Your Neighbor month at your local library. We are celebrating libraries as centers of their communities this month with a list of great programs for everyone:

March Crafterwork - Rocket City Rock Painting

March 4 • 6:00 p.m.

Madison Public Library

Come meet your neighbors and paint a happy rock to spread cheer around our community. Leave your rocks around town for others to find and keep or share with others. Follow Rocket City Rocks on Facebook to see where you might find other rocks!

 

Tai Chi

March 4 • 1:00 p.m.

Bailey Cove Branch Library

Tai Chi every Monday in March and April! Lyn Anderson from The Yurt Garden will be leading Tai Chi classes at the Bailey Cove Library.

 

Antebellum Alabama with Burritt on the Mountain

March 9 • 10:00 a.m.

Downtown Huntsville Library

Join us as we continue our yearlong Alabama bicentennial celebration! In March, educators from Burritt on the Mountain will be visiting to discuss antebellum Alabama. Upper elementary kids, teens, and adults are welcome!

 

“Won’t You Be My Neighbor?”

Join the community in a viewing of the award winning documentary “Won’t You Be My Neighbor?”, an intimate look at the life of America’s favorite neighbor, Fred Rogers.

 

Adult Craft Night: Spring Wreath

Come be creative in making a Spring Wreath to brighten your home!

 

How to Do Things: Grandmother’s Flower Garden Quilt Block with English Paper Piecing

March 12 • 6:30 p.m.

Downtown Huntsville Library

Learn to sew a grandmother’s flower garden quilt block by hand, with the English paper piecing method. It’s an easy patchwork pattern, perfect for beginners. No hand sewing experience is required. Bring a thimble if you need one.

 

Art After Dark

March 16 • 6:00 p.m.

Triana Public Library

Plan a date night or a girls’ night and come to Art After Dark. We will focus on an artist or a painting style and you will create a masterpiece. Reservations are recommended. Ages 10 and up suggested.

 

Cake Recipe Swapping

March 22 • 10:00 a.m.

Dr. Richard Showers Sr. Center

Bring a recipe and if possible a sample of the delicious cake to share. Showers Friends of Library will supply the coffee and you can enjoy visiting and talking about baking with your fellow neighbors.

 

Clothing Swap

March 23 • 11:00 a.m.

Triana Public Library

Looking for to an inexpensive way to spice up your wardrobe and clear out some valued items, stop in at the clothing swap. Don’t have any items to bring, you can still come and mingle with your neighbors and shop too.  Items not taken will be donated to a charity.  Host:  Porschalyn Nnadi, Keller Williams Madison.

 

Author Market: A Madison Sesquicentennial Event

March 30 • 9:00 a.m.

Madison Public Library

Visit the library for a Local Author Market Partnered with the Madison City Sesquicentennial Committee. Support local authors who will be on hand to sell and sign their books.
