5 Authors to check out on Hoopla Part 2

Joe Lansdale- With his distinctive East Texan knack for storytelling, once you start a Lansdale book you suddenly realize you forgot to pick the kids up from school because you lost track of time, so engrossed in the story Joe is telling. For decades Lansdale has been producing some of the finest fiction, writing in the mystery, crime, horror, science-fiction and western genres, and always with a wicked sense of humor. His stories have been adapted into comics, TV and films. His work served as the basis for the Hap and Leonard series (2016 – 2018) as well as the films Bubba Ho-Tep (2002) and Cold in July (2014).

 

       

 

 

C. Courtney Joyner- Joyner began his career writing scripts for low budget genre films like From A Whisper to A Scream (1987), Class of 1999 (1990) and Puppet Master vs Demonic Toys (2004). In recent years he has been writing a series of successful and popular westerns.

 

       

 

 

 

Christa Faust- Faust writes hard edged, gripping crime fiction, many released on the line of Hard Case Crime. She also writes short stories and many of her tales have been adapted for the Hard Case Crime comic book series.

 

    

 

 

 

Bobby Nash- Nash is a prolific writer of pulp fantasy, crime and science-fiction. He has written the Snow series as well as the Harold Palmer series which began with Evil Ways (2005) and the Sheriff Myers series. He is also a prolific comic and graphic novel author. When he has the time, Nash is also an actor. His most recent appearances have been on an episode of Shudder’s Creepshow (2019) and episodes of Netflix’s Ozark (2019-2020).

 

    

           

 

 

John Russo- From Pittsburgh, PA, Russo began as a filmmaker working with George Romero making commercials until they finally scrounged up enough money to make their first movie, the modern horror classic Night of the Living Dead (1968), which Russo co-wrote with Romero. Since them, he has written dozens of novels, many of which have been adapted into movies and comic books.
